Appeal-Democrat Editor Regrets Arrest

Yuba City

Appeal-Democrat Editor Len La Barth was arrested early Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A Sutter County Sheriff's Department deputy stopped La Barth's 2005 Mazda pickup at 2:30 a.m. at Market Street and Lynn Way in Yuba City. He was booked into Sutter County Jail and released later Friday morning.

La Barth, 47, of the 1300 block of Tres Picos Drive, Yuba City, was ordered to appear Aug. 31 for an arraignment in Sutter County Superior Court.

"I regret the incident," La Barth said.

  1. People who asked the AD what The Editor's Blood alcohol content was, if he was still employed by Freedom Press, what he was under the influence of, and if the paper was planning a full unburied story,
had their user rights terminated and their comments removed as if the questions had never been asked.

  2. Excessive cover-up. The editor's of the A-D consistently censor readership thoughts and opinions by deleting posts that adher to the user's agreement. And they do not adher to their own policies.

  3. In this community, in less than 2 years, we have had a police officers strip search, and sexually violate a woman on a public street, a police officer's toddler son kill himself playing with a loaded weapon, 2 CPS wokers arrested for falsified CPS reports, forging, exbezzelment, and extortion, countless cases of embezzelment inculing the Sheriff's Dept.

1 judge who recieved 2 DUI's (1 a hit and run) for not only driving, but working at almost 3 times the legal limit! He recied less than 2 weeks community service and was allowed to drive.

Sutter County by it's own records has more than 900 cases of false alegation of child abuse alone. Children taked from families whom CPS knows have done no wrong.

The Attorney General has stepped in after questions of misconduct and threatening witnesses, were made against the DA in the Griesa (an exjuvenille court probation officer) molestation trial.

The AD does not appear to share stories and appears to not only censor the news, but also the posted comments. I had suggested sending story links to the AG to show the signifagence of the corruption within the two counties and low little legal action is taken.

When the AG arrived the AD 404 the archives and lost it's most significant stories. The AD Editor's DUI link is already 404. You cannot cut and paste it.

Anyone who provides information to get outside help loses their posting rights on the paper. Innocent people are being sent to prison by over zealous DA's and Brady cops, and the guilty are not held accountable, PLEASE HELP US.

  4. I have had several comments deleted by the Appeal Democrat. None of those comments violated their own agreement. When I wrote to the AD and requested why my comments had been removed, they said it was because the way in which the comments were written left the reader to conclude a meaning that could have violated the terms. So, just because someone misunderstood my comment, that means my comment violates the user agreement terms. Way to go AD!

  5. The AD news stories have many typos and grammer errors. The arrests are reported mostly via press release or prosecution interview with out, it appears to investigate. I have many questions as to the AD's ability to accurately report the news. The manipultion by the press via the DA appears to be significant. I cannot help but question how long Mr. La Barth has been under the influence, and what he is under the influence of? Is this arrest the symtom of a significant problem that has effected not only the reader, but also the rights of due process by those reported on?

  6. Peach margaritas, That's his specialty, lets keep the video up to promote drinking and driving. Our newspaper is becoming a joke, we can not even leave a comment that does not break the user agreement without getting it deleted these days, its riduclous to have this kind of censored paper. There goes freedom of speech.

Word of warning. In no way is this forum safe. I had the D.A.s office show up to my door Wednesday asking if we were XXXXXX? Way uncool, post on this forum and then the DA tracks you down. I know for a fact the info did not come from The editor. Len has told me himself. The info came from way farther up the food chain. They want us to testify and I told them we only speak to the Attorney General because we have seen how they operate here. We are waiting for the fictitious warrants and the harassment from local law enforcement. Can almost guarantee its coming since we wont give them the info they want so they can bury it. So once again be cautious on here. Please warn others.

  9. I don't understand why the AD buries it news stories. We have significant prosicution misconduct and Brady police investigations.

Ironically we live in an area where drug and alcohol treatment is almost nonexistant and yet so much comes out in the posts that supports treatment for our local agency employees. And the AD and DA push to delete it.

  10. The Friday issue on the AD web site had stories that were weeks old without changes. After I read of the Arrest I wonder if they were filler.

When and were did what ever he was under the influence of occur? The posters who said it was probably just one drink at dinner were allowed to stay. (He was arrested at 2:30 AM) Those who suggested a 12 step program had their post removed and their posting rights terminated

  11. Why is it that your paper is being one sided and deleting peoples comments if they haven'y broken the user agreement. I read one ladys comment and it said something about someone came from a DA office to her home over her posts? Sounds kind of strange to me how did they even know where this person lived. What happen to freedom of speech?

Why is it that your paper is being one sided and deleting peoples comments if they haven'y broken the user agreement.

Because it appears that the paper is somehow edited or controled by the DA's office and or the Under the infleunce Judge Evans.

    Press Release
    Wittaker
    FBI

They will not allow any satistics on CPS adoption incentives or false allegations of child abuse, even if the site source is the CAl GOV website. All violate the user agreement.

  17. I can't even imagine that going on in a county.
When you have a man in South Carolina that molested a horse for the second time and is in jail, and this man had to register as a sex offender on the first conviction. So if this man in your town has aalready been convicted of a sexual crime, why hasn't the judge orderd him to do so. whats are world coming to, sick men molesting children but getting away with it and then we got men having sex with animals and going to jail and registring as se offenders.

  18. The paper publishes stories based on statements made to the press by the police and the DA's office. The AD does not check them or retract them. Many times people have posted that the AD printed things that were not fact, or even lies...

I know of a Sutter County case where the DA put three stories in the paper that were outright lies. The AD printed the lies. I know they were lies because I have the evidence file from the case, which not only does not suppport the AD story but contradicts it to the tune on "THEY ARE INNOCENT"

Printing the DA statements without ever investigating lead to hundreds of death threats against the accussed at the jail. Because of the extreme media attention, the failure to investigate the story, the accussed took a 12 year plea to a crime that he not only did not do, but NEVER EXISTED...

The DA who pulled it all off took a bow in the paper. Someone posted she would make a great judge...

Now I wonder, was the Editor of the Appeal Democrat drunk or high when this man life was destroyed by the paper?

  22. The Appeal Democrat is not a newspaper. Lenny LaBarth proved that when he failed to provided the reader news coverage of his DUI
The AD appears to be a political tool used by Adams, Schroder, Wittaker, and Evans to gain power destroy lives. CPS and Net5 are used like pitbulls to threaten and control the community.
I cannot help but wonder, now that Lennies DUI is in hidding, whose favor he will be required to repay and at what cost to the innocent?
What else is the AD hiding?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The argument of cancer effecting a criminal court case is ironic. I know of a Sutter County CPS/Criminal case. Where the defendant was given a choice between the DA allowing his girlfriend to receive cancer surgery in exchange for his taking a 12 plea bargain at 85%, in a case involving child abuse charges. He was not only he was innocent of but the abuse, but the abuse did not exist! AND CPS AND THE DA KNEW IT! I have have the evidence, NO FINDINGS OF ABUSE...

So don't tell me that what one CPS worker got "CAUGHT" doing was not in the same category as "a murderer--or someone really bad." Falsifying legal documents, committing perjury, and misuse of power, DESTROYS LIVES...destroys families...everyday...This man was literally placed in the position of protecting his family...from CPS! How many times have they gotten away with this? How many lives have they destroyed?
