PUBLIC NOTICE


Jill LaVine, Registrar of Voters for Sacramento County Elections, announces that the following positions are up for election in Sacramento County for the November 2, 2010 General Election.

*SACRAMENTO MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT: Qualifications: Candidate shall be a registered voter within the ward in the district.
 Directors, Wards 3, 4, 6 and 7 – Directors are elected by Ward.

FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICTS – Qualifications: For positions elected at large, candidate shall be a registered voter of the district. For positions elected by division, candidate shall be a registered voter of the division within the district.

Courtland - 2 Directors (1 short term)
Delta - 1 Director
Herald - 2 Directors
Pacific Fruitridge Fire - 4 Directors
Rver Delta - 2 Directors (1 short term)
Walnut Grove - 1 Director
Wilton - 2 Directors
*Sacramento Metropolitan - 4 Directors - Divisions 1*, 3, 7, and 9, (Candidates qualify and are elected by division.)

RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICTS – Qualifications: For positions elected at large, candidate shall be a registered voter of the district. (However, there are provisions in the Public Resources Code for current board members who were elected pursuant to the former §5783.3) PRC 5784.1(b)

Qualifications: For positions elected by division, candidate shall be a registered voter of the division of the district and shall be elected by division.
Southgate - 3 Directors (1 Director per Division) Divisions 1, 3, and 4
IRRIGATION DISTRICTS - Qualifications: Candidate shall be a registered voter of the district and a resident of the division that he or she represents at the time of nomination or appointment and during the entire term of office. Candidates qualify by division but are elected at large. There is 1 Director to be elected per Division.

Carmichael Water - 2 Directors for Divisions 3 and 5
*Citrus Heights Water - 2 Directors for Divisions 2 and 3
Fair Oaks Water - 3 Directors for Divisions 1, 2 and 3
Galt Irrigation - 3 Directors for Divisions 1, 2 and 4
*District extends into another county

WATER DISTRICTS - Qualifications: For positions elected at large, candidate shall be a registered voter of the district.


Del Paso Manor - 3 Directors
Florin County - 2 Directors
Rio Linda/Elverta Community - 3 Directors (1 short term)

Qualifications: For positions elected by division, candidate shall be a registered voter of the division. There is 1 Director to be elected per Division. Elected by division.

Sacramento Suburban - 3 Directors - Divisions 3, 4 and 5

COMMUNINITY SERVICES DISTRICTS - Qualifications: Candidate shall be a registered voter residing within the boundaries of the district. Directors are elected at large.

Cosumnes - 2 Directors
Rancho Murieta - 3 Directors
*San Juan Water - 3 Directors-Qualified and elected at large. District is shared with Placer County.

RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICTS - Qualifications: Director shall be registered voters in the State of California or own land in the district.

Florin Resource Conservation District – 3 Directors

SCHOOL DISTRICTS - Qualifications: If elected at large, candidate shall be a registered voter of the district; if elected by trustee area, candidate shall be a registered voter of the trustee area within the district.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that official nomination petitions and Declarations of Candidacy for eligible Sacramento County residents desiring to file for an elective office may be obtained from the Sacramento County Elections Division, 7000 65th Street, Suite A, Sacramento, CA 95823-2315.









NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that filing will open on July 12, 2010 and will close on Friday, August 6, 2010, after which time no Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for filing. If an incumbent does not file his or her Declaration of Candidacy on or before August 6, 2010 the period for all non-incumbents to obtain and file Declarations of Candidacy will be extended to August 11, 2010.









NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the hours for filing nomination petitions and Declarations of Candidacy during the filing period (and extended filing period, if necessary) will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays.









NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that arguments for or against said measures shall be submitted to the Sacramento County Elections Division. Said arguments shall not exceed 300 words in length and may be received or withdrawn, but not changed, prior to and including August 5, 2010. The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters shall cause arguments for and/or against said measure to be printed and shall cause to be enclosed a copy thereof in each sample ballot. Rebuttals to said arguments for or against may be received or withdrawn, but not changed, prior to and including August 12, 2010. NOTICE IS FURTHUR GIVEN that Vote-by-Mail processing may begin on the tenth working day before the election, which is Saturday, October 23, 2010. Persons interested in viewing this procedure should contact Brad Buyse of Voter Registration and Elections at (916) 875-6276 for further information.









All ballots cast at the November 2, 2010 General Election shall be tallied at a central counting place; the Voter Registration and Elections Office at 7000 65th Street Suite A, Sacramento, California, beginning at 8:00 p.m. election night and continuing until the count is completed.









Proposed City of Arden Arcade









Jill LaVine, Sacramento Registrar of Voters, announced that the nomination period for city council positions for the Proposed City of Arden Arcade in Sacramento County, will be available July 12 through August 6 at the Sacramento County Elections office located at 7000 65th Street, Suite A, Sacramento California. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.









To qualify for the city council position you must reside within the proposed city limits of Arden Arcade and be a registered voter (Government code 34882).









The question to be submitted to qualified voters is as follows:









Shall the order adopted June 25, 2010, by Sacramento County LAFCo, ordering the incorporation of the territory described and designated as “City of Arden Arcade” be confirmed subject to terms and conditions specified in the order, including payments to Sacramento County commencing FY 2012-2013 and terminating after $219,000,000 is paid, and for the City to levy and collect the same taxes, fees, charges, assessments and rates currently imposed by Sacramento County, as particularly described in the order?
