Design Changes Proposed for Blue Line to Cosumnes River College; Light Rail Extension

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) will host a public meeting to discuss the Blue Line to Cosumnes River College light rail extension project at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011, in the multi-purpose room of the Susan B. Anthony Elementary School located at 7864 Detroit Boulevard.

RT staff will discuss design revisions to the Blue Line to Cosumnes River College (also referred to as South Line Phase 2), which are the subject of an Environmental Assessment that is currently underway.  RT is seeking community input regarding the proposed revisions, which include:

·         Updated right-of-way information for project properties adjacent to the Union Pacific corridor

·         Modified alignment for the relocation of a 20-inch PG&E natural gas pipeline

·         Additional revisions to other design elements

The meeting will begin with an open house at 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief presentation at 7 p.m.  The open house will resume following the presentation.

Once complete, the Blue Line to Cosumnes River College will expand RT's light rail system 4.3 miles from the existing terminus at Meadowview Road to Cosumnes River College.  The extension will include four new light rail stations:  Morrison Creek, Franklin, Center Parkway and Cosumnes River College.
