West Sacramento to Host Veterans Day Parade

War veterans in the Sacramento region will be honored this Friday, November 11, with the first Veterans Day Parade in recent history in West Sacramento.

The public is invited to “salute veterans” and enjoy the unique compilation of numerous marching bands led by the nationally acclaimed Davis Aggies “Band-Uh”; several dozen military vehicles and an authentic 1966 Huey UH-1C gunship helicopter; grand marshals representing all military branches and eras; multiple scout troops; among others.

The West Sacramento Veterans Day Parade and festivities immediately following are being presented by Eskaton, the Northern California-based nonprofit aging services provider, as part of its Veterans Appreciation Initiative.

The Parade begins at 2 pm with participants following a route from Westmore Oaks Elementary School, to Clarendon Road, Meadow Road, Westacre Road, Park Boulevard, Stone Boulevard and finishing at Sam Combs Park for an official ceremony with dignitaries and honored guests.

Along with Eskaton, major event sponsors include the CalVet, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets, Rotary International, Ramco Enterprises and media host CBS13/CW31.
