Folsom Symphony Opens Sales of 2012-2013 Season

The Folsom Symphony has announced it will begin offering its 2012-2013 season tickets to new subscribers May 29.

Season subscribers save up to 10 percent off the cost of individual tickets. The standard price for the full season of five performances ranges from $113 to $189, depending on the seat, and $90 to $167 for students and seniors. Tickets for individual concerts will go on sale in late July.

The season now closing, the symphony’s eighth, has been its most successful ever. The orchestra played to four sold-out houses in a row and added two unscheduled performances to meet demand.

The ninth season promises to be just as spectacular. The season opens with “A Heart’s Jewel and Triumph” Oct. 20, featuring Mendelssohn’s Concerto in E Minor, said to be the “heart’s jewel” of violin concertos, and Tchaikovsky’s triumphant “1812 Overture.”

The annual holiday concert, this year titled “Of Joy and Fate,” will be Dec. 15 and 16. This performance will feature a blend of classical music and holiday favorites, including Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” and our traditional sing-along. On Feb. 9, the symphony will play its Valentine’s Day concert, “Love Is All You Need.” March 23 is “Our Magnificent Horns,” featuring the symphony’s horn section; and May 18, 2013, will be the annual pops concert, “Made in America,” showcasing Broadway and film scores that celebrate America’s musical ingenuity.

All performances will be at Three Stages and begin at 7:30 p.m., except for the Dec. 16 holiday concert, which starts at 2 p.m. Three Stages is on the campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway, in Folsom. Tickets can be purchased on our website, www.folsomsymphony.com, or by calling 916-608-6888. For a season brochure in pdf format, visit the website and click on the “Concerts” tab.
