State AG Announces Arrest by eCrime Unit in Phoney Car Code Scheme
Attorney General Kamala D. Harris and San Diego
County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis today announced the arrest of an
individual who ran a sophisticated scheme at San Diego area Lowe's and Home
Depot stores in which he replaced the bar codes on expensive merchandise
with bar codes that scanned at lower prices.

Jason Lee Rush Convicted of Child Molestation
District Attorney Jan Scully announced today that Jason Lee Rush was convicted by jury of child molestation with use of force against a 12 year-old victim.
Deputy District Attorney Allison Dunham states, “By testifying in this case, the victim overcame her fear of the perpetrator to make sure this would never happen to another child.”
Rush faces up to 16 years in prison. Sentencing is set for May 23, 2012 in front of the Honorable Judge Connelly.

Two More Guilty Pleas in Ongoing Nuestra Familia Drug Trafficking Prosecution
United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that Danny Pereda, aka T-Mighty, 29, of San Francisco; and Rebecca Guzman, 27, of Salinas, pleaded guilty today to conspiring to traffic methamphetamine and cocaine with the Nuestra Familia (NF), a violent Hispanic prison gang based within the California prison system whose members exert control over street-level NorteƱo gang members engaged in drug trafficking and violent crime.

Sac State Roomate Murderer Quran Jones Reaches Plea Agreement
District Attorney Jan Scully announced today a negotiated settlement in the
prosecution of Quran Jones, a student at California State University, Sacramento, for the murder of his roommate Scott Hawkins.
The disposition involved a “dual plea” – the defendant pled “Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity” to the charge of second degree murder in Scott Hawkins’ death; and Guilty to several charges related to assaults on officers responding to the scene – three counts of attempted murder with use of a weapon, and three counts of brandishing a weapon at a police officer. The agreement includes a stipulated sentence of confinement to a
state mental hospital on the murder charge, and a term of 18 years, four months on the other charges.
The defendant will serve both sentences concurrently.

Body of Missing At-Risk Teen Found in Sacramento River
Monday afternoon, the Sacramento Diving and Accident Rescue Team (D.A.R.T.) responded to the 10900 block of River Road along the Sacramento River to assist the Elk Grove Police Department in their search for 15-year-old Shabnam Ahmadyar who had been missing since Friday.

Teen Arrested in Homicide Case
Sheriff’s Homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection with an incident that left a man dead late Saturday evening. A 17 year-old male has been booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on charges of murder and attempted robbery. His name and photograph are being withheld because he is a juvenile.
