Yuba City Drug Trafficker Sentenced to More Than 17 Years in Prison

United States District Judge William B. Shubb sentenced Anthony Boykin, 36, of Yuba City, to 17.5 years in prison for methamphetamine and cocaine trafficking, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.

According to testimony presented at the six-day trial in March 2011, Boykin and his brother Patrick Boykin arranged and sold of methamphetamine and cocaine to several police informants between September 13, 2006 and March 29, 2007, in Yuba City. Patrick Boykin pleaded guilty and was sentenced on October 5, 2009, to 17.5 years in prison as well.

Judge Shubb, in sentencing Anthony Boykin, observed that he was holding both brothers accountable for the same amount of drugs sold in the course of their conspiracy. Patrick Boykin had a slightly more serious criminal history, but Judge Shubb stated that this was countered by the fact that Patrick Boykin had accepted responsibility early in the criminal proceedings.

This case was the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Yuba-Sutter County NET-5 Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Heiko P. Coppola and Matthew Morris prosecuted the case.
