Defendant Convicted for 1st-Degree Murder of Rio Linda Man

A Sacramento County Superior Court jury found Jacob Wilcoxen guilty of the first-degree murder of Bill Stidman. The jury also found true the allegation that Wilcoxen personally used a firearm causing Stidman’s death.

Bill and Jean Stidman lived in their Rio Linda home with their two female teenage foster children. On June 15, 2014, Wilcoxen and a 17-year-old associate went to the Stideman’s home with a plan to sneak into the house after the Stidmans went to bed and have sex with the two female teenagers. Mr. Stidman found Wilcoxen in the 14-year-old foster daughter’s bed and confronted Wilcoxen.

When Wilcoxen attempted to leave, Mr. Stidman, who was a licensed security guard and former police officer, said he was going to arrest him. Wilcoxen then pulled a concealed .38 caliber revolver and shot Mr. Stidman four times, killing him.

Mr. Stidman lived long enough to give the first responding deputy basic information, and ask paramedics to tell his wife he loved her. Wilcoxen faces a maximum potential sentence of 50 year to life in prison.

Sentencing is set for October 6, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in Department 18 before the Honorable Cheryl Chun Meegan.
