Man Murdered at His North Highlands Residence

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department is investigating an early morning homicide in North Highlands. 

According to reports, Sheriff Deputies responded to a shooting  shortly after midnight on Tuesday, August 22 in the 4100 block of Painter Way in North Highlands. Deputies located a 34-year-old male victim on the ground near the front door of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. 

Sacramento Metro Fire responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim lived at the residence. 

There was evidence of forced entry into the residence by the suspect(s). The motive and suspect(s) description is unknown at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
