Acampo Man Convicted of Killing Reputed Walnut Grove Meth Dealer

Macairo Villalpando. |
In a jury trial that concluded on Friday, April 20 Macairo Villalpando, 30, of Acampo was found guilty of second-degree murder.

According to evidence presented, on February 7, 2016 Villapando went to the residence of Tony Brambila in Walnut Grove, whom he in the past had purchased methamphetamine from. Villalpando claimed that the shotgun went off accidentally as he rested the butt of the gun on the ground.

However, the pathologists testified that the wound track demonstrated the shooting did not occur in that manner. At the time of the arrest, detectives from the Sacramento Sheriff's Department said the two had engaged in an argument that led to the shooting of Brambilo in the abdomen.

Villalpando faces a maximum potential sentence of 40 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for June 1, 2018, in Department 27 by Judge Gervercer. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Andrew Smith,  part of the Sacramento District Attorney's homicide unit.
