The Sacramento region has long suffered an inferiority complex, especially when compared to the Bay Area and the Southern California Los Angeles and San Diego metropolitan areas. Who can forget when the LA Lakers mocked Sacramento as a cowtown during the NBA western conference final almost 20 years ago.

While Sacramento has long laid claim to its geographic location - you know, we are right between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, the area is finally coming into its own. Part of this has been because of becoming the nation's self-proclaimed farm to fork capital.

Another significant event that put Sacramento on the culinary map was one of its premier restaurants, The Kitchen, being recognized by the renown Michelin. The well-regarding establishment rant was given a one-star rating by Michelin and became the first restaurant in Sacramento to earn that distinction.

On Tuesday, July 16, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will recognize The Kitchens owners and founders, chefs Randall Selland and Nancy Zimmer. The ceremony will be at 9:30 am. at the board of supervisors hearing room at the Sacramento County Building at 700 H Street in Downtown Sacramento.
