Woman arrested on child endangerment charges after firing gun inside apartment

A Sacramento woman is held on a $100,000 bail after she allegedly fired a gun inside an apartment where children were present.

Just after 8 a.m. today, Sacramento Sheriff's responded to a call from the 800 block of La riviera in unincorporated Sacramento regarding an in-progress burglary. The female caller reported the activity then disconnected the call.

Responding deputies heard a gunshot from inside the residence. Additional resources were requested, and the Sheriff’s SWAT team responded.

As the situation progressed, additional gunshots were fired inside the residence. No deputies fired their weapons.

Sheriff’s hostage negotiators were able to establish verbal contact with a female inside the residence. The female, Kathy Miller (pictured below), 31, surrendered.

Miller’s three young children were located inside the residence. They were unharmed and are with family members.

No suspects are outstanding, and no one was injured in this event. Mille's arraignment is on Thursday, July 18.
